Introduction to Underground Coal Gasification
Gasification is a chemical process for changing a solid or liquid fuel into a combustible gas that subsequently can be used to produce heat, generate power or as a feedstock for chemical products such as hydrogen, methanol or synthetic natural gas. Underground coal gasification involves injecting steam and air or oxygen into a coal seam from a surface well.
